UV Closeup of Dandelion Heads

Up close, the subtle differences in the UV reflectance of flower details translate into a 3-D map for the insects to orientate after. Here are the floral heads (composite flowers) of the common dandelion (Taraxacum officinale Web.).

Technical details: Nikon F4, UV-Nikkor 105 mm f/4.5 lens, Wratten 18A filter equivalent over lens, SB-140 UV flash, Fuji RTP film.
