A rare introduced weed on ballast soils in Norway, this yellow-flowered cinquefoil species has very strong and prominent UV marks on the petals. The anthers also absorb UV, whilst the stigmas and rims of the bracts show UV fluorescence. P. reptans is together with P. erecta and P. anserina a text-book example for the development of UV floral patterns.
